The Stepping Stones program at the Brotherhood of St. Laurence is running the first of three series of Small Business Seminars on Friday 18^th and Saturday 19^th of May 2012.

The Seminars are designed for migrants and refugees who have started a small business or are planning to start a small business is Australia. The topics will cover important aspects of running a small business in Australia and will be delivered in simple and accessible English language. Facilitators will use a practical examples and participants will have a chance to apply new ideas and skills through practical exercises.

Summary of tasks:
- Assist in setting up some speech recordings in Hausa (including some translation from English to Hausa and record your Hausa speech)

Essential Skills:
- Native speaker of Hausa as spoken in Nigeria
- Being able to read and write Hausa is compulsory
- Must be a native speaker of Hausa
- Can understand written and spoken English instructions
- Basic computer skills (e.g. experience working with computer softwares)

Desirable:
- Being able to work in Chatswood office (2 or 3 days per week subject to weekly available work volume)
- Flexible availability (working can be negotiated on a weekly basis)

The New South Wales Government plans to commence a review of the State’s strata

and community title laws in 2012, which may include significant amendments to the

existing legislation.

To support this reform, public policy think-tank Global Access Partners (GAP) is

hosting an online community consultation on Open Forum (openforum.com.au/strata)

to give individuals and businesses affected by the reforms an opportunity to voice

their opinions, share their experiences, raise specific issues or concerns and suggest possible solutions. We invite your comments on the following questions:

Q1. What are the main areas of the existing strata and

community scheme laws you would like to see changed?

Q2. Can you see any future issues that need to be addressed in the

legislation?

Q3. How could the management of strata and community schemes

be improved?

Q4. Are there any changes needed to the way disputes in strata

and community schemes are resolved?

The consultation is open to the general public and closes on 29 February 2012.

Through weekly workshops and professional mentoring with Sista Savage and Naina Sen you will learn to script, shoot and edit as a digital artist and crew member.

Drawing on your own experience of culture, identity, creative survival or your message to the world, the InSite project invites you to share these stories with the world through digital media.

Make a documentary, short film or music video depending what you are into!

InSite will run from February to June 2012 with a final screening of your work . Workshops held weekly at Youthworx Productions.

There are a number of roles available within various business units in the areas of Finance, Technology and Business Administration.
